Heather Malin, PhD is a leading researcher and consultant in teen purpose development and education. As the senior director of research for the Stanford University Center on Adolescence, she studied diverse aspects of youth purpose development, civic development, young entrepreneurs, and artistic development. She is the author of Teaching for Purpose: Preparing Students for Lives of Meaning. Dr. Malin serves as an advisor and consultant for purpose learning organizations, including Wayfinder, nXu Education, Open Future Institute, and Future Coach, providing research and evaluation support. Her career in developmental psychology and education spans over 20 years, during which she taught art in schools and through community-based programs, led professional development workshops for teachers, evaluated education programs, and mentored pre-service teachers in the Stanford Teacher Education Program.

Alanna is the Program and Communications Coordinator for the Family Online Safety Institute. She leads FOSI's events planning and Good Digital Parenting programming, and supports FOSI's communications efforts. Her prior experiences focused on both media and education. Alanna has taught English and communications courses at both the high school and college level, and concentrated on the subject of media literacy education during her master’s program.
Alanna has a master’s degree in media studies from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She also holds undergraduate degrees in both Public Relations and English from Penn State University, and is a Fulbright alumna.

John Flournoy is a member of the Stress and Development Lab and the Affective Neuroscience and Development Lab at Harvard University. He is a methods-focused psychologist and neuroscientist with a passion for robust, transparent, and reproducible scientific practice. His role as a research scientist supporting two labs in the department of psychology at Harvard is multifaceted. He provides scientific, technical and computing support through individual consultations, workshops, and direct execution; he mentors graduate students on specific research projects; he leads teams to accomplish project goals. HIS training allows him to evaluate, implement, and incorporate methodologies that are the best fit to the research question.

She received her PhD in Educational Psychology from UW-Madison in 2021. Her research centers on both positive and negative experiences on social media among adolescents and young adults and associations with mental health outcomes. In addition, Chelsea is the program manager of the TAM (Technology and Adolescent Mental Wellness) Program and specifically oversees the Data Consortium and Colloquium.

Her research interests align with the Digital Wellness Lab’s mission, advocating for user-focused design strategies, promoting youth-led research, and ensuring technology adapts to the unique needs and experiences of individuals.
